WELCOME TO OCHRE. INDIGENOUS HEALTH THROUGH ART. Menzies School of Health Research presents the Fundraiser & Auction 'Ochre - supporting Indigenous health through art', Melbourne Australia 'Ochre - supporting Indigenous health through art' is a major fundraising art auction which will raise funds for research into Indigenous child health at the Menzies School of Health Research. The ochre collection includes 14 extremely high quality pieces by some of Australia's most highly sought after artists, including John Mawurndjul, Eubena Nampitjin and Makinti Napanangka, winner of the 2008 National Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander Award. Ochre has taken a very unique approach to the way that the collection has been put together. Rather than asking for artists and performers to donate their works, as is the 'norm' in most charity art auctions, sponsorship has been secured to allow artworks to be purchased direct from community art centres therefore ensuring that we fostering local economic development and employment opportunities.
